Facilities at Wadhurst Institute, Hall & Field

At the heart of our village since the 1920s, The Hall (also known as Commemoration Hall) is a lovely, bright space that has been the centre of village life, hosting everything from wedding receptions and lively parties to badminton, ballet, and local theatre.

It is a wonderfully flexible space that can comfortably host up to 150+ people, featuring a large stage for performances—complete with a lighting, presentation and sound system available for hire—and a well-equipped, professional kitchen that is ideal for event catering. With plenty of tables and chairs, fast Wi-Fi, and full wheelchair access, it provides a warm and practical setting for any occasion.

Hire: £17 per hour, including utilities.

The Orchard Room is a wonderful, flexible space that is ideal for everything from business and committee meetings to smaller parties, social events, and fitness groups. It can be easily adapted to your needs, whether you require a boardroom, theatre, or horseshoe layout, and it is well-equipped for presentations or race nights with space for a projector and plenty of power sockets.

The room comfortably seats up to 30 people, with tables, chairs, and high-speed Wi-Fi all provided, along with its own sink and toilet facilities making it a cosy and self-contained setting for your next club meeting or gathering.

Access: Via five steps. Fully compliant with health and safety requirements.

Hire: £13 per hour, including electricity, gas and heating.

The Institute Hub is an intimate, professional space designed for groups of up to 14. Centered around a large boardroom table, it serves as an ideal venue for committee meetings, workshops, educational classes, or private interviews. Whether you are looking for a dedicated community space or a quiet environment to "get away from it all," the Hub offers a versatile setting tailored to your needs.

For those working from home, the Hub provides a flexible solution for important calls or client meetings, with bookings available for as little as one hour or as long as multiple days. The room is fully equipped with projection capabilities, ample power points, and a customisable table layout. Guests also enjoy access to a shared kitchen and hot drink refreshments, making it a comfortable and productive alternative to a home office.

The Community Pop-Up is an informal space at the front of the Hall in the centre of the busy Wadhurst High Street. We have created a versatile area available for local groups, makers, and small businesses to showcase their work without the large financial commitment of a commercial property. Whether you're running a craft stall, hosting a tasting session, or offering a community service, this is a welcoming space to connect with the Wadhurst community.

The field, located behind the Commemoration Hall, has one of the best views in Wadhurst, looking over to Snape. It is has a number of clubs which play there, including the Wadhurst Football Club, Wadhurst Cricket Club and Wadhurst Bowls Club. The field is also open to everyone, whether using it for walking, relaxing or playing. It's a fantastic open space right in the centre of Wadhurst and there's even a little copse to walk through.
